Well, its time to finally write my last email as a missionary! I am not sure if we will have any time next week to write so ill just make this one count. I jsut want to say that I am so proud to have served the lord as a missionary, I am very happy and eternally greateful for my mission. It has changed, edified, taught, and built me into the man the lord wanted me to become. I still have much to learn but I feel that my learning and progress skyrocketed here in the mission. It is amazing and humbling to look back and see the changes he has made in me. I am very excited and optimistic for the future and cant wait to see you all. I hope all is well, I pray for you daily and I know it will be a very bitter sweet moment leaving my chilean home and family to reunite with my other family. I love you all so much and wish I could repay you for all you have done for me, for your prayers, letters, emails, packages, and support- I am eternally greatful for each of you. I couldnt have done it without you. It looks like the lord is ready for me to go home, but I will always be his missionary, and I will always carry a plaque in my heart with his name on it. I am thankful to have seen so many miracles and to have witnessed the lords tender mercies for the people he loves so much here. I am also proud to say that I am finishing strong, each week they ask us to do 140 contacts as a companionship which can be hard to do, this last week we did 201 contacts and we found 10 new investigators-what blessings. well, I love you all, and I will see you very soon. Take care, and pray for my father along with me please.

Until we meet again...

Well I am slowly getting more and more trunky haha, its so hard to keep yourself 100 percent focused and forget that ill be home in two weeks...It has been emotional and a wierd feeling, I dont think I will really comrehend it until im am in the airport. I am excited to see you all! We are still working hard and are experiencing many changes in the mission due to the new mission president. This week they completely changed our schedule and now permit us to eat dinner each night and a lot of other big changes which will be fun for theses last two weeks. All is well and we are seeing miracles daily. I feel at times like the Lord blesses us too much ha, but I know he loves us all so much, I would do the same to my children.Yesterday I had to give a 15 minute talk in church and it made me realize- It is important to always progress and improve little by litte each day- just like the savior said - be ye perfect even as I and your father in heaven are perfect. It is amazing to really imagine and think of our true potential-Sons and daughters of a god, the all creating, all knowing, and all powerful being. You have royal blood inside you-so live up to your potential and progress! I am so greatful for my mission and to see personal prophecy be fulfilled in my setting apart and in my patrarchal blessing. It is truly amazing.

I love you all so much!

Family and friends, this week was an amazing week for us here in Corona Sueca. We have been working hard and being diligent and it has been paying off. I knew before the mission that I would have rewarding experiences and feel full of joy and happiness as I would serve, but yesterday that promise was truly fulfilled. We arrived to church with a new family we had found and during the sacrament meeting the child went insane and I was doing all I could to calm him down and play with him and was praying so hard that the parents would still have a spiritual experience, after a while they decided to leave because they felt bad....So I was a little sad, on top of that my companion has had bad stomach pains this week and it just seemed like a disaster yesterday. Later in the day we had Camilo Paredes (Recent Convert) come with us to give a blessing and I knew when I saw him that he has something bothering him on his mind. He asked if we could walk and talk......These were the words he said to me " Elder Roberts, today in sacrament meeting I felt very strongly that the Lord wants me to serve a mission, I went home the second hour to tell my parents my decision and they were so disapointed in me because they are not members and dont understand, also I am 22 years old and am in the middle of my studies.....what do I do?" We sat down in a park on a bench and I began to express how much the mission had blessed and changed my life. It all ended in tears as we read D&C 31 together and we were all so full of the spirit. He said "I know god spoke to me, and I know what I must do" ......My whole body was FILLED with the spirit and never had I felt so satisfied with the work I had done in my whole life. Through 8 months of hard work here in this sector, the Lord truly gave us a HUGE Miracle, seeing a young man reject the gospel, to being baptized, confirmed, called as young mens president, recieving the priesthood, going to the temple, and now-willing to sacrifice it all for a mission. GOD LIVES, I know it with out a doubt in my heart. I Invite all of you to do the same as Camilo, and always follow the impressions of the holy spirit.

I Love my mission.

Well another week down! Time is going so quickly! I cant believe that Ill see you all in 4 weeks! I am pretty excited for that. So just an update, my health is doing a lot better now, I went to the doctor again and he gave me a couple new things to try for my asthma so im now his test subject haha but I feel much much better. Everything is going well here, we woring as normal, finding people and seeing miracles. This week we had a huge miracle. So I dont knw if you remember but Victor (Our investigator) has been in the hospital for months now and finally on tuesday they gave him a 1 week home release! I gave me the biggest hug and began to cry telling me of the countless experiences in the hospital that have changed him and helped him grow closer to god, and guess what! For the irst time in the 8 months that I have been here HE CAME TO CHURCH! and he loved it! He enters the hospital again today but wow, through his trial he has changed and now their future is looking very bright with future marraige plans and baptism plans for him and gina so that they can join their family in the gospel! It was a very heart touching experience for me to see a changed man and to see how the lord always has a plan even when we think he doesnt, and his plan is always out of love for us. We also found many awesome people this week who are very prepared and who need the gospel so badly. It was just a great week.  All is well with my companion, we are best friends and we get a long great. I miss you all- To be honest these last weeks are the hardest part of my mission, truly enduring to the end and ending strong. But so far so good :) Love you all!

Well another week over and another week closer to the end. It has been hard knowing that I will be home so shortly, it has been something that satan definetely uses to try to make me not focus myself 100 percent - BUT I am doing just fine, this week even though we were in the house for 3 days due to my sickness we still worked really hard the remaining days and took out the trash! It was a great week, it went by really fast. All is well with me companion and I, we get along very well and have a blast together, Today after internet we are going bowling woo! So this week President Videla got here and starting changing a few things, it is amazing to see how different the mission feels now with a new president, its a little wierd getting used to some of the changes but it is definetely inspired of god. He is a very funny guy and their main concern is that the missionaries are happy, so thats awesome!

Yesterday was very spiritual in sacrament meeting, we were able to get 7 less active members to attend and 2 investigators, and 9 recent converts. It was an amazing feeling hearing one convert bless the sacrament for the first time and to see another pass the sacrament. WOW People DO CHANGE!

As usual all is well, my portuguese is coming but very slowly because I have been focusing in helping my companion learn spanish, but when I return I hope to learn it more fully and even more languages!

I am eternally greatful for the changes the Lord has made in my life in such short time. These truly have been the best two years for my life!

Love you all, see you soon!

So this week was great until friday....First of all I had a killer birthday, it was a blast and we even found a family of 4! I ended up getting 3 cakes and a lot of "Happy birthdays" thank you all! So on friday night I got really sick- I had a fever of 103 and a cough, Saturday I still had a fever and the cough was deeper in my lungs, then on sunday the fever continued and so they came and rushed me to the hospital instead of church ha and I finally saw a doctor. He gave me about 6 different medications to take for the next 5 days and he told me that I cant do anything for at least 3 days. So it has been a little rough, but it is just another trial to learn from and to grow stronger. I am doing better now, the fever is gone, I just feel very tired and have a deep cough. Other than that all is well, we are finding new people and Felipe who was recently baptized was confirmed yesterday, recieved the priesthood, and gave a talk! Its very great to see peoples progress and see how much they can change.

Well this email is going to be a little short, I need to rest!

Love you all,

Well today begins MY LAST CHANGE IN THE MISSION, its insane.....So tomorrow a huge group of new missionaries arrive and so president decided to change my companion to a different sector and have me train another new elder-He will be my fourth son! haha and also I am going to stay here in Corona Sueca until the end of my mission which means I will be here for a total of 9 months. It is a long time but all is well, next week we are expecting a baptism and another in a few weeks to come. I also found out that I will be arriving home around 9:00 AM on August 12th. It is amazing how time flies! I am doing great, the new department is awesome and we are all working hard. Today I said goodbye to a lot of my best friends in the mission that head home today so that was weird but its just how the mission is. It has been cold here but this week should be pretty hot. Also the World Cup is now started which means we go in at wierd times in the week to plan or study because its like the super bowl of soccer and nobody lets us in haha. Well I lovde you all, sorry for the short letter I am in the process of choosing my classes for school.

Well this week was definetely a struggle for us here but we made it through.
I got really sick on wednesday and was in bed all day with a fever and very bad stomach problems, and then a couple days later I got a cold so now my stomach is better but I have a bad cough. Anyways on wednesday I asked for a blessing and my companion said in the blessing that "I did not bring on this sickness by my own doing but that it was a necessary trial that I needed to pass through" when he said that I felt a big peace come over me and I recieved comfort, what a blessing. Here is has been a little cold but not very much but it should be raining a lot more this week. My Comp is so funny, he is so great and so smart, he is teaching math at nights to prepare me for school haha. So this last week the owner of our house asked for her house back and tonight we will be going to check out an apartment and maybe sign the contract if it looks good which is a blessing because it is very hard to find houses in our sector. There are not much new things here but I am happy and time is going very fast.I love you all and will see you soon!

Well my dear family and friends, I found out that once again I will be staying in Corona Sueca and I will be training another new missionary that I will go get tomorrow! All is well here in the sector, yesterday we saw a miracle! Yesterday we went into a house with an investigator (Gina) and with her husband that is slowly progressing and listening more. Yesterday we sat down and started teaching when all the sudden he came in and wanted to listen. We taught the plan of salvation and afterwards he looked at Gina and gave her a hug and the both started crying in front of us saying that they never had felt such hapiness. Victor now wants to know more! sooo spiritual! Currently we have six people preparing to be baptized. Yesterday Camilo recieved the priesthood, and wow everyong is progressing so well. I jsut cant belive how fast time is flying!

well I love you all

Wow family! so THIS WEEK ONLY our P-day was changed because today we got to go to the temple!!!!!!!!!! Oh my gosh it was sooo powerful seeing the new things their it was amazing! This week was also awesome for us- We had a Baptism on Sunday- Rosa Millaqueo- she is like 78 years old and she was so happy to be baptized, she got up and cried saying she was so happy. Also I found out officialy that I will fly home the 11th of August of 2014. I am excited to talk to you all in two weeks on mothers day! the 11th of May. I will let you know about the details when it gets closer. Here the weather is  cooling down wich is nice, it makes the work a lot easier. We are finding a lot of people and working hard, we are expecting two more baptisms the 11th of may! My portuguese is going very well...in fact I already finished the books and discs that my mom sent me haha I guess its time to step up the level. There is another Elder in our zone who is also learning so we talk all the time in Portuguese. Today my testimony was strengthened as I entered the temple, and wow what peaceful power is in the temple. I cant wait to go again! Luckily this time I dont have to wait a whole other year to enter. I hope all is well at home and I hope you are all happy! Sorry for the short letter...

Family and friends! So im pretty excited to talk to you next week! I will be calling anywhere from 4:15 to 5:30 ish ....im not sure though because if the internet connection is bad we will have to take turns so I may talk after my comp finishes.. so just turn on the computer at 4 and wait:) Also things are going very well here in Corona Sueca in Pudahuel. This next week we will have another baptism and a hopefuly future missionary! He is 22 years old and his name is Camilo Paredes. Also this Wednesday we have a missionary leaving in our ward (its been years since the last missionary here left so its a big deal) and we are going to be there while he gets set apart this tuesday so that should be cool. Changes are coming up soon and I have no idea what will happen, but I have been here for a long time so we will see what president Essig decides. On june 27th we will be getting a new mission president, we dont really know anything about him other than the fact the he is chilean haha. All is well, our sector has been getting pretty dangerous and so we have been entering almost two hours early at times and on normal days one hour. Just to give you an idea---- So this last week we went to visit an awesome family that we found that are very receptive, we walk in the house and it is a mess and so I ask what happened and Romina said that they have to change houses....and then she told me why...I guess her husband got in a fight a couple days before and was stabbed two times, once over the heart and once in the hand, and so now there are people looking for them.... NOO!!!! (and thats not even the worst part of the story- but I will have to tell you once im home so that mom doesnt freak out)  it was crazy........but dont worry I  A M  S A F E ! !
I have God and angels protecting me :)

anyways I love you all, this church is true. It is the only thing that will give you eternal joy instead of momentary happiness.

Well this week flew by once again but it was a great week! So this week we saw that god really does protect us here on our missions--Yesterday there was a soccer game and people go crazy for their soccer here and after the game we were walking and all of the sudden cops pull up and tackle a man and then throw him in the police truck and drive off, se we keep walking.....as we are walking they come up again to break up a fight that broke out in front of us. A couple days before we were walking in the street and as we passed by a group of teenagers about our age they said "Hey do you guys have some money?" And I said "nope!" and as we kept walking they threw a big 2x4 at us but luckily they missed, so we kept walking peacefully. All I know is that god protects us!

Yesterday in church was awesome! We were able to get 9 less active members and 5 investigators to come to church with us. It was fast and testimony meeting and one of our investigators got up and declared to the whole ward that he knows that this is the true church and has decided to be baptized!! We have been teaching him for about 5 months and he would just not budge! But the spirit of the Lord touched him in General Conference and now he will be baptized the 11th of May!

All is well here, we are working hard and the weather is cooling down a little. and p.s. here we felt a little tremor from the earthquake up north but nothing serious at all.

Love you all!

Dear family and friends, This was an awesome week here in corona sueca. I LOVED CONFERENCE....wow the messages were so spiritual and full of "treasures"! It was also nice to be able to sit down and rest phisically haha. This week we were able to find 8 new people to teach and we saw great progress in many of our investigators. If all goes well we will have a baptism here next week- Rosa Morales. Yesterday the office called and informed us of changes and luckily me and elder starkey will both be together another change! We are excited cause we have a lot of amazing investigators who are very close to being baptized. So I have been studying a lot of portuguese and im almost done with the book already that I got haha, I have definetely grown in my desires to learn on my mission. What is hard for me to comprehend is the time...... in four short months I will be home....It is weird. I dont feel like my mission will ever end, but at times I find that pressure on my mind to contact the world and do all I can in these last couple months. My mission has truly changed me and I would not change these hardest two years of my life for all the riches in the world. They are truly priceless, there is nothing more sweet than living, breathing, and preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ. I cant wait return and keep serving, and take all that the Lord has taught me here on my mission and use it. what a blessing!

EU (eww)  SEI (say)  QUE (key)  A (ah)  IGREJA (ee-gray-jaw DE (jee) JESUS (jesoos) CRISTO (cristoo) É (eh)  VERDADEIRA! (veh-da-day-ra) - Portuguese!!

I know the church of jesus christ is true!

I love you all!

Familia! This week went soo fast..... It is crazy how fast time is going.... Well all is well, I got my package woot! and I have been studing Portuguese like crazy every day, im getting better at it! and thanks for all the goodies! Wow I am sooo excited for general conference this weekend, I cant believe that next general conference I will be home, the mission is like a time capsule sometimes it seems so long, and other times it goes very fast. Next week is also changes in the mission so well see if I stay or go... This week president put another one of me and Elder Sorensens stories in the mission letter, here is what he put. —(Two missionaries were doing contacts in a steep area.  They entered a small steep passageway and saw an old lady walking up the hill 20 feet ahead of them.  Suddenly, they saw a wide tire rolling quickly down the hill straight at the lady.  The two missionaries sprinted up the hill, got in front of her, and stopped the tire.  She was very grateful and began telling people that two Mormon missionaries saved her life! )  I remember that I cut m y hand on the tire but it was so cool cause I was like a super hero!

This week went well, finally it is nice and cool here, at times it is still super hot but now there is a lot of cold wind! Feels great outside! But I got a cold...  Wow another crazy thing about being a missionary is how much food the members give you to eat....Yesterday we went to a members house and she gave us : 3 cheese empanadas, a stuffed tomato, salad, a piece of lasagna the size of my head, and a huge cup fullof ice cream, and bread and juice....we left Sooooooooo full........ Which is something I will never understand, how I have lost weight on my mission. Must be from all the walking!

All is well!

Elder Roberts

we upped the weight on our bench press!
We taught a man who is Hare Krishna this week! and this is his bible...interesting!

March 17 2014

Date: Mon, Mar 17, 2014 at 11:18 AM

This week was a great week! We worked pretty dang hard but we had a lot of fun doing so. I would first like to thank you all for your prayers for our investigators- This week after a lesson with Mary Gonzalez and hearing her have many doubt and worries my companion simply asked....Mary would you like to say a prayer and ask God right now if you should be baptized? She said yes...we kneeled down, after a short simple yet sincere prayer she got up and sat back in her chair and began to cry. She said I felt him answer, I know its all true- Instantly I asked "Mary - will you follow christs example and be baptized? and without any doubt or hesitation she accepted. Next week she will enter the waters of baptism!! AND Gina is doing amazingly well, in two weeks her son and mother will be baptized and Gina is trying to convice her husband to marry her ha so she can do the same. Another investigator we had who has been listening forever finally said he recieved an answer this week! It was a week of true miracles. Also last night we had a very interesting experience. We were called at about 7:30 by a recent convert who lives SO FAR..at the edge of our sector- she said Elders I need your help, my mom needs a blessing. We went (and after walking for about 30 minutes) we got to the house. It turns out that the mom was there and they were with her as she was waiting to pass on. Just like when Grandma passed away in our house. So we entered the room where she was and we saw this lady, tired, worn out, and bearly breathing. We gave her a priesthood blessing and as soon as we began we both felt like the room was moving and a huge power flowed through our heads down through our arms and passed through our hands to her head. It was like feeling an incredible and tangible peace and love and warmth, we both knew that our heavenly father was there with her and wow I dont think I have ever felt that kind of power before in a blessing.

Great week! We are both doing great, working hard, and having a blast together.

I love you all! - Lhes amo tudos! - Yo les amo!!

March 10 2014

Date: Mon, Mar 10, 2014 at 10:39 AM

This week has gone by fast but it went very well for us. We have been working pretty hard and have set up a ton of awesome apointments with people for this next week. Our investigators are doing well and we also found a couple new investigators this week that are really great. Elder Starkey and I get along so well, we have a blast and we both motivate each other to work even harder. We get to the house at night dead and ready to sleep, its a lot of hard work to be a missionary but it is a great experience.

This week we decided we wanted to kick up our exercises in the house so we found a metal bar and then we used our extra grocery bags and filled them with bricks and then hung them on the bar, then we put some seats together and made a bench press! Its pretty awesome, and it works! Ill be sure to send a picture haha.

So I have come to find that everything in my patriarchal blessing AND in the blessing my stake president gave me when he set me apart have come true....it is so cool to see the reality and the power of the priesthood. one of those promises is that I would convert people through the power of the priesthood. Story: About six months ago when I was with Elder Diaz in La pincoya we found an old man whose name was Jorge. Jorge listened to us and was very nice and lived with his daughter. Jorge was very sick and suffered from parkinsons and constantly was shaking very badly and could not walk very well. One day Elder Diaz and I had the impression to teach about the priesthood and to offer him a priesthood blessing. We did so, and in the blessing I remember we told him to stop shaking, and that through his faith he would recieve help from angels on both sides of the veil and would recover and follow his savior. ...... About a week later I left the sector..... Two weeks ago I found myself with Elder Diaz in the office and he said "ELDER!!! GUESS WHAT??, after you left Jorge healed from his parkinsons, stop shaking and got baptized! " And then I knew that the promise that was given me was fulfilled. - This church is true, I know it because I have seen true miracles, and have felt the power of god non-stop as I preach HIS gospel.

 To whoever reads this letter-

If you dont already know for yourself what church is true I invite you to ask god- who giveth to all men liberally and upbraideth not, and it shall be given him (James 1:5).- Ask and you shall recieve, knock and it shall be opened unto you.

Elder Roberts

Well well well, this week was a great week for us here in Corona Sueca- Pudahuel- Chile....I got my new companion, his name is Elder Starkey and he is from  Virginia. He is an awesome guy, he is 19 (his birthday was in january), he is a good hunter and is like pro with a bow and arrow, actually he took 17th in world when he was 13 years old! We get along very well and we have had a great week. Mary is doing a lot better and is getting over all her doubts and we are also finding new people too. We have an awesome new idea that we are trying out to find people- We made a 5 question survey about Jesus Christ and at the end they get to choose a gift (Dvds of christ, or pamphlets, or pictures) and then they write down their information for us to come by. It has been a big success in these past couple days and we are excited to see how it turns out! I also finally got a book of mormon in Portugues and I am now reading it every day, I can understand a lot of it but speaking is hard but im very excited and am being very diligent. This week was nice because the weather cooled down a little bit, in the mornings it is very cold and foggy but it heats up right before we go outside so thats a bummer haha but soon it will be colder. So this past saturday we had a big conference, Elder David F. Evans of the seventy came and spoke to four missions (No sadly Keatons mission wasnt there), There were over 1000 missionaries, it was so awesome cause it reminded me of the feeling in the MTC, the spirit was so strong- Elder Evans spoke for FOUR AND A HALF HOURS NON-STOP....it blew my mind! it was a very very great conference. It made me really excited for general conference AHH!!

well I love you all! Be good!

Elder Roberts....check this out:

English - I am a member of the church of Jesus Christ of latter day saints

Spanish - Soy miembro de la iglesia de Jesucristo de los santos de los ultimos dias

Well well well, here we are, already ending another change here in the mission, Next week is chages and we have no idea what will happen. Things have been going great here this week, it has been so great! We had a saturday and sunday stake conference this week and we got a lot of our investigators to go. After the conference on saturday we were in the hall with all the people and  one of our investigators (Gina) said "Elder can I talk to you.....I have been thinking it over and over and I have finally made the decision, I want to be baptized, and I want you to baptize me..." WHAT! haha it was so so spiritual I didnt even know what to say, then I said YES! of course haha so now currently--Next week the (23) Mary Gonzalez will be baptized, and also Gina, Felipe, and Rosa are preparing to be baptized very soon. What blessings we have seen these two changes here, we went from basically nothing to many people wanting to be baptized and sacrificing so much to do so. It was a great week! I am glad to report that my health is doing a lot better, actually I dont think I have ever been more fit in my life, I do exercises at morning and at night. Just love the mission, its so dang tough but it is great. I just cant believe how fast time goes....6 months left!

Here is our Valentine photo, I decided to where a black tie to mourn for me and Keaton losing our Valentines haha jk. It was fun though, and I bought some awesome shades for 3 bucks :)

So this week was alright....... haha actually I was sick for four days this week with a fever and in bed with a lot of stomach problems but I am now feeling a lot better. This week also satan worked hard andwe had a big set back. Mary got really sick and because she was so sick she decided to drink some tea......and we were going to wait just one week for her baptism but now we have to wait two because we have stake conference this weekend..AHHH!!!! lame....So we also found out that our house has a lot of mold and that is what was making us so sick so we will have someone come soon to kill it all and then we have to paint the house and get a lot of new things to replace the bad things. Sooo it was a rough week but this week should be a lot better. It has been way too hot here like 100 degrees each day. it makes the work really tough being out in the sun all day, im getting major tan lines. So well see how everything goes for us this week, keep us in your prayers! well the lord gives us all trials to make us stronger, sometimes you just need to be patient. all is well, and im happy :)

Well I love you all, sorry for the short letter this week,

Elder Roberts

Dear family wow another month has gone by! I cant believe I will be home in 6 months...I feel like I am just barely understanding what realy mission work is, I guess thats why they say you are the best missionary the last 6 months of your mission. Anyways everything has been going great here I think there is a virus going around because me and my comp are always sick haha. It is still really hot here, were very very lucky if there is even one little cloud in the sky... We have been working hard in our sector and seeing good results. So we were four elders living in one house for one ward, but due to a shortage of missionaries right now in our mission they closed the other missionaries sector and left us the whole ward and the whole house! haha its nice to have more space but it just doubled our sector so now we have a lot more walking to do...its kinda wierd because the house is really quiet now, I guess thats how mom and dad felt when I left :) So we spent a while organizing the sector and papers and the house and now I think were ready to go:) we currently have 4 people with baptismal dates but we could easily put another 3 with dates. If all goes well we will have a baptism next week or the week after, she has everything she just needs to stop smoking. Mary is so LEGIT! wow I cant wait to tell you all her story in person it is truly a miracle, she has gone from 40 ciggaretes a day to 1! so were close! Me and my comp are super happy, and my Portuguese  is coming along, im pretty stoked.

well I love you all, just another normal week.

Another week down and even more tan lines to prove it...wow this week was very hot here, like way too hot haha. Every day before we leave we basically get drenched from a spray bottle and with a really good prayer it seems to work out:) Again we saw miracles this week! Yesterday we had 7 investigators in church! and they are all pretty much preparing to be baptized so keep them in your prayers. Everything is going great, im healthy, getting tan, and working hard. We are trying to work harder to find more people to teach because we have good investigators but we also want more! I think the hardest part of the day is right after lunch, your all full and really tired, its BURNING hot outside, and nobody is in the street cause they are all eating or taking naps....it gets rough sometimes but it always seems to work out. So last night president Essig called me to ask me if he could put something I had written to him a couple months ago into the letter that goes to the whole mission each monday. I said "You bet pres!" so now its there today, cool :) so I am very impatient to go to the temple haha I have heard a lot of things recently about new things they are doing and AHH I just wanna go....in april I will though. Anyways everything is pretty much the same here, life is good and time is going fast....keep preaying for rain please :)

Well another week down! This week was good but very very hot outside...I was pretty tired the whole week from all the wind and sun and work but it went well:) Today is changes but me and my companion are both staying so tat will be good. Everyone in the sector is still progressing and doing very well, if all goes as planned we should have a baptism this next change! Well we also found out today that President Essig will be leaving one the 30th of June, so that means I will have a new president for one change, I guess he is from Chile too! Anyways this week is my companions birthday, he is going to be 19 so were gonna make coke floats because there is no root beer here haha. On saturday me and my companion had to take an hour bus ride to another sector in the middle of no where to do a baptismal interview since im district leader, is was pretty awesome, we got the two front seats with the driver and it was really pretty! Im excited to go do more interviews now haha. Well I am trying to learn Portuguese but I dont have ANY material to learn it....I bought two books but they are really bad haha so if anyone has any "How to learn portuguese" books that you could send they would be very much appreciated! Well I feel like this change went sooo fast and I cant believe Ihave already been here for 12 of the 16 changes in my mission....

well I love you all, take care!! (P.s. sorry if my photos I send are not working, I lost my card reader and it doesnt work the same uploading them directly from my camera)

Family! Happy 2014!! wow, time just goes so fast. So this year I have a new goal and I have already started it which is........dun dun dun... To learn Portuguese! It is a really neat language and is very easy if you already know spanish so I bought some books and well see how it goes!

So this week was one of the most amazing weeks ever!!!!! A couple weeks ago we were teaching Maria in a park as she told us that her husband was very controlling and a drunk and he would never change.(This was after he had already rejected us and told us to leave)...Then the Lord showed his hand and gave us a miracle....More than once we have somehow entered their house, and knelt down with the whole family  while the father gave a prayer, AND they came to church as a family this sunday!!! Wow....what a blessing, she said so many times---"He will never change ive tried so many times" " If you can get him to come to your church I will never leave your religion" haha and HE CAME!! and Maria accepted a baptismal date for the 19th on January:) My dear family and friends.....Miracles DO happen.   We also had another family come to church and attend a baptism and the mom cried (Good sign) :)

I am excited to be a missionary and am happy to be here, its so dang hard but it is really an experience that has and is changing me. there are just too many blessings.

I love you all!!

Dear family and friends, this week was soooo great! haha even though it doesnt feel like Christmas here it has been full of christs christmas spirit. This past week the missionaries (ME) haha we through a party at the church and watched a video about christ and sang and ate food, it was a good turn out and some of our investigators came! Then on saturday night the bishop called ans said-- Elder...tomorrow can you and your companion give talks about christ and christmas our speakers fell through...sure bishop! how long do we need to speak? ....well about 15 minutes each! ahhh ...haha sooo saturday night we prepared our talks and gave them sunday but seriously the Lord helped me so much, I feel like it was the best talk I have ever given, and it was in spanish! so many people came up to me afterwards like crying! It was so sweet....THEN I was in Elders qourum and I was sitting by the door, and through the door I heard someone say "We need to talk to Elder Roberts, it is urgent....then they opened the door and when it opened I saw in the hallway the Cornejo Family!!!!! They are a family from my very first sector and Ignacio (Nacho) was my first baptism in my life and my best convert in my mission. I ran out and gave them the biggest hugs and shook the girls hands so hard haha and THEN he says Elder Roberts guess what......and then from behind his back he pulled out a white envelope that said _ La iglesia de Jesucristo de los santos de los ultimos dias....and I recognized it as a missionary calling!!!!!! He gave it to me and I opened it...Ignacio is going to serve in Mexico, Mexico City....WOW I cant even tell you how many emotions of joy and happiness that went through me, I couldnt stop hugging him. I was able to teach him, baptize him, be there when he got the holy ghost and the priesthood and now when he is going to serve a mission. Probably the most rewarding experience of my life. I am so happy...ill send a picture of his before and after today.

I am very excited to talk to you all in two days!!!!! I will be calling at about 12 and if not then just keep waiting. have your email and your skype open just in case we need to communicate to set it up.. I LOVE YOU!

Feliz Navidad!

Dear family and friends, this week was an awesome week! I got my new companion Elder Sorensen from Centerville Utah! He is super awesome, its so weird though cause he is like my twin haha, we get a long very well. This week it was really hot here which is weird, it doesnt seem like christmas time at all but thats probably a good thing or we would be more home sick ha. I still havn´t gotten my package yet but the mail comes wednesday so cross your fingers! Currently we have 8 people with baptismal dates!! Woo hoo! This week it was fun because my companion got to do a lot of "Firsts" ---His first contact, his first completo, his first lesson, his first everything. Its a cool experience to train, I am learning so much and its really fun. The new sector is going well, its nice because everything is close so we dont have to walk really far like my other sectors. The members here are really helpful so that makes me excited to work with them. Well there is a lot on my plate and its hard at times but im pushing through with a smile. Well not much to say other than im Happy, Merry Christmas, and well talk soon!!!!!!!!!!!!

I love you all so much!!

Wow I literally cannot believe that it is already DECEMBER! That is just too crazy, here sadly I didnt do anything for Thanksgiving or black friday but we worked hard:) So today was changes in the mission and I have been changed again haha. I am now no longer Zone Leader but I have been called to be a district leader, to open a new sector, and to TRAIN A NEW MISSIONARY!! haha im pretty stoked to train, tomorrow im going to go pick him up and start working but it will be a challenge because I do not know the sector at all.....Pray for me haha. Anyways I am no longer sick and it is really really hot here so it doesnt even feel like christmas time. My new sector is Corona Sueca 2. So this week was a little crazy cause there was soooo much to do and I was on interchanges with Elder Flores for the whole week..its got a little crazy at times and the Lord is definetely teaching me patience and how to do a lot of things at once. The mission is very very hard...actually the hardest thing I have ever done, BUT it is so rewarding. Yesterday when I told our investigators and our recent converts that I was leaving they all cried and told me how much they loved me and how their doors will always be open for me and my family.....Those are the most rewarding moments, and to be able to see the complete change that someone has made and watch as blessings flood their lives in so much abundance. I love my mission:) Time flies, but im working very hard. I love you all, be safe, work hard, and be obedient with exactness to the lord and you also will see the windows of heaven open in your lives and homes, and the blessings will surround you in every aspect and moment in your life.

Wow this week was sooooo insane.....I left my sector and companion for a week to learn more from Elder Ballard.....Friday and saturday I was sick all day in bed, and sunday we flew to my sector so fast to change back because we had TWO BAPTISMS!!!!!!! it was such a spiritual experience, super super cool. I would send pictures but my companion has the pictures and now he is in another sector for the whole week with an elder to learn more.....wow its super tough doing so many changes and this week is going to be a big challenge because I have to do all the work for 2 zone leaders now instead of just one, plus lead a sector, and train a new missionary basically. so well see how it goes, keep me in your prayers! Anyways this week was really good, I had a blast with Elder Ballard, he taught me a lot and we got along very well but its really nice to be back in my sector with my investigators and my house  ahhhhh. This change our zone achieved 11 baptisms and had the highest numbers in the mission, President is super happy, so well see what happens next monday (Changes) Who knows maybe ill train a new missionary! Also this week I got my new set of scriptures that finally came in the mail and oh my gosh it was like early christmas, seriously I have never been more excited to see a book of mormon in my life.....thanks mom! Anyways I want you to know that I am very very thankful for all the Lord has given me and for all the blessings I have seen thus far in my life and my mission. I am thankful for each one of you that takes time to write me or send me things. I hope you all have an amazing Thanksgiving and a super fun Black friday!!!!!!! wow im stoked for next year!

Love you!

Hello! This week was SO GOOD! So I am now serving in Huelen with Elder Bueno, he is 27 years old and is from Uraguay. He has been in the mission for about a year and a half and before he was basically a professional soccer player. He is super awesome, we get along very very well. This week we took out the trash haha I love my new sector, we taught 18 lessons with a member present and 18 without members, we contacted 117 people and we found 9 new people to teach. Here in my sector it is FILLED with apartments, at first it was kinda wierd but I have found that I love it, everyone lives close and we dont have to walk far at all ha. We currently have 5 people with baptismal dates and they are all so prepared its insane! This sector is loaded with people prepared and it literaly shows me that the field is white already to harvest. It just requires my hard work now :) I love my mission, I love being a Zone leader as well. A zone leader is basically in charge of all the districts in hhis zone, and in each district there are about 10 elders or sisters. A zone leader has to be in communication with the mission president and solve any problem in the zone that comes up. also I have to teach a class each week to one of the ditricts, and we have to call for all the numbers achieved for the week for each companionship....and a lot more, but its awesome. In our mission there are about 20 zone leaders for 240 missionaries. I am super happy and excited to see the progress of the people here. Also my comp is helping me work out harder and each morning we drink protien shakes, im stoked! Hope all is well and I hope you are all happy. and mom now you can sleep better cause my sector is A LOT LOT LOT safer than La pincoya , where I was before.

Love you all!

Elder Roberts,

p.s. I will try to send another voice recording and photos soon.

Famly and friends this week was a great week, we worked super hard and knocked a ton. We found about 10 new people to teach and had some pretty cool experiences. WE found an old man who was praying in the morning for an answer because his wife had just passed away three months ago and that same morning we found his wifes name in our area book and went to find her and when we got there we found him and he told us what had happened. We were able to teach him the plan of salvation and put him with a baptismal date, he even came to church yesterday and he felt super happy, then we went by last night and we were able to teach his son! Super cool, were excited to see him progress. We also gave a blessing to a really sick man and at the end of the blessing he was sound asleep. We also found another lady who said she has always been searching for the true church but didnt know how to find it, we are not teaching her:) Its been a very rough week, a LOT os sun, walking, and knocking, but we have seen a lot of blessings as well. Me and my comp elder Diaz are doing good, changes are next week so well see how that goes. I got my package from Eric and Janean!!! Woohoo goodies from the states, haha thank you soooo much, me and my comp love them! Anyways Elder Roberts is still happy, and still safe:) Imade a voice recording yesterday to send but this dumb computer wont let me send it haha so maybe next week. Anyways I hope all is well, I love you all soo much!!!!!!!

October 07 2013

Date: Mon, Oct 7, 2013 at 9:10 AM

Hello! This week was a great week! On monday we had to stay in because I hurt my ankle and couldnt walk but the next day it hurt less and we were able to work. This week we found a lot of new people to teach, and saw a miracle happen! So we were knocking a street and we contacted a man who was very nice and said we could come back the next day. We came back and knocked the door but another man answered, so we began to talk to him and he began telling us how he wanted us to meet his son. He told us to come back in a few hours, so we did. When we got to the house for the third time we met the son, his name is Richard, he is 13 years old. We found out that he has shared a lot with missionaries before but recently moved here and lost contact. We had an awesome first lesson and we are now teaching Richard, the father, and the man we contacted named luis. What a miracle!

Wow so how cool was General Conference! The mission has really opened my eyes and has shown me the importance of the Prophet and Apostols. I dont think I have ever been so excited to listen! I know that the more we become closer to christ, the more our desire is to learn. I can truly feel a hunger and thirst for the word of god, and I am so happy to see the changes he has made in me. I know the mission is not easy, but thats the point. The important part in any trial is to just take is day by day, hour by hour, and the Lord will do the rest.

I know that God lives, I know that families can be together forever, I know that Christ is the key to our salvation and he is the Redeemer of the world. Let them into your lives, sacrafice a little, and he will work miracles and give you so much more. I invite everyone who is reading my email today to read 3 NEPHI chapter 11 and after to kneel down, talk to your father, share the desires of your heart, your dreams, your fears, your needs. I know and I promise you all that he will listen, and he will answer you and send you angels and celestial blessings...all you have to do is kneel.

Have a great week, and never forget.. you are sons and daughters of GOD.

My familyyyyyyy!! Hi! I love your letters thank you so much! and MOM I GOT MY PANTS AND DEBIT CARD!!! Wooot the pants fit very well, and thanks for the Jerky:) This week was another week of hard hard work. A couple of days we were in the street the whole day knocking doors and doing contacts. The mission is definetely not easy but I know that it is worth it. This week was pretty hot here, a lot of smog and sun. This week we found a couple new people to teach which was nice, were excited to see them progress and learn more.

So today in our mission email they told us that Elder Holland is scheduled to come speak to us in November!! Im so stoked, also I dont think I have ever been more excited for general conference in my life than I am now haha, I cant wait.

So today we played soccer in the morning and I landed wrong and hurt my ankle pretty bad, so well see how it goes this week, ill keep you updated.

Anyways life is good, time is going by real fast, and I am happy:) Cant wait to see you all again and tell you all the stories from my mission!

Love you all, sorry my letter is a little short today.

FAMILY! This week was crazy! Yeah so ill start out with the crazy story yeah! So a couple of days ago me and my companion were late for lunch with a member, we were really far away and were sitting waiting for a bus. Usually the buses here come very often and you only need to wait a few minutes, but we ended up waiting for over 30 minutes and not one bus came....we began walking....we decided to take a taxi but again for some reason there was not even ONE who had room or would stop...we kept walking....as we were walking we saw in front of us a lady walking towards us and bawling, as we got closer she tripped and fell right in front of us and began hitting the ground and crying even harder. I helped her up and my companion about had a heart attack from what was happening, I lead her to the curb and we sat down, I crouched down and started telling her to take deep breaths and to relax...after a few minutes she relaxed a little more, she kept repeating "Why dont I just die now" " I have nobody and nowhere to go" " I am ashamed". I began talking to her about god and how at times we have to hit rock bottom before he can lift us up, I asked how we could help her (My comp still was kinda in shock) she said she needed a taxi, so I helped her up and we walked towards the street, as I am looking around she FAINTS!!! My comp reacted and caught her and we lowered her down softly. I was holding her head so it didnt touch the hard cement. EVERYBODY was watching haha, But silently in my mind I began to bless this poor lady. As I did she woke up and violently tried to remove my hand and began freaking out and a lot of ugly things that I dont want to describe. we waved down two cops and later left. THE MORAL OF THE STORY IS-- God puts us in places where we need to be, Who knows what would have happened with this lady if we werent there. I know she needed that blessing and someone to help her, and who knows maybe one day shell call us ( I slipped a handout card in her backpack)

Well this week was great and thats my crazy story. haha I love the mission, time flies way to fast, and my english is horrible haha. Well I love you all, this week is the 4th of July for Chile in other words. should be fun:)

Im safe! and im happy!

My dear family and friends, once again another week has past, everything is going great. This past week we ate a lot of BBQ`s which was awesome, The weather has been nice as well, not too hot but not too cold. This week we worked hard and had a lot of success. Me and my comp get along very well, he is a funny little guy haha and we are learning a lot together. Currently we have 3 investigators with baptismal dates, we taught about 26 lessons this week, and contacted only 64 people (Which wasnt very much) My spanish is improving very quickly and that makes me happy:) Not much has changed, im pretty shure I weigh a bit more but im not shure cause we dont have a scale, all I know is they feed us a TON, but then again we are walking the whole day. This week we taught a lot about the plan of salvation, we have a recent convert whos husband commited suicide, we have another convert whos son was murdered, we found a lot of people that have recently lost loved ones here and it has been a testimony to me teaching them about the precious blessings of the gospel. I dont even know where to begin if I were to explain how much my mission has changed me. I know that my ideas and views on a lot of things have changed. I know and now realize the things that are really important-Family, the gospel, the Temple, the scriptures, church, Prayer, fasting, and so much more. Yeah a few of you have been asking for some of my cool or spiritual experiences from my mission so here are a few (some I wrote in other letters but here they are again):

March 11 2013
One day this week it was very hot, we were walking more than usual, each of our apointments slowly fell through, nobody wanted to let us in, we were feeling stressed and beaten down. As we were walking I remembered the words that Jesus told his apostles, to not take food or drink, clothes, or shelter but just to preach and have faith that the lord will do the rest, I thought about my purpose and why I was and am on a mission, I silently looked down and offered a prayer saying "Heavenly father, this past two weeks we have been working hard, we have been walking, knocking, and talking to everyone we could have, I know that we are here for a reason in el salto, please help us find someone to teach, someone who needs this message today" I looked up and I saw instantly a man in front of me, tall, older, and a little rugged. As he was closing his door I contacted him, we talked and I askedf if we could share something with him, he let us in. We walked up his old creeky stairs to his small and beat up house. We sat down, his name was Marcel, he said he was just looking for help and peace in his life....I knew that god had sent us there, we continued and shared the first lesson and gave the first vision, I bore strong testimony to him that god sent us there, that he would be able to find peace and love through christ and his church, I asked him, "Marcel how do you feel?" with tears in his eyes he said "I have been praying for years, looking for someone, something to help me, and when you were talking I just felt....Special, like god loves me" We were all overpowered by the spirit, what an experience, we set up another apointment and left. I KNOW THAT GOD ANSWERS PRAYERS!

IN THE ISLAND
We got a reference from someone saying a lady had cancer, we went to the house and a very sick lady opened the door and let us in. Her name was Sandra Cruz. She began telling us that she has cancer and how in a few days she will be traveling to the continent to begin kymotherapy. (Or however you spell it) We began taching this lady about the priesthood and how it is real power from god and works according to our faith. then she sat down in front of us, and with the spirit already there very strong we placed our hands upon this tired, and sick womans head. In this very special and probably one of the most powerful blessings I have been a part of we promised her that once she arrived to the continent the doctor would have good news for her. we also promised her that once she heard the good news that she would remember that is was specifically through the power of the priesthood that those blessings were recieved. a few weeks later we got a call from an unknown number. With a trembling voice we heard sandra cruz say "Elders, I got to the Doctors office and he did a couple tests, once he saw the results he was amazed and blown away. I was in process of losing my sight and in 5 months I would have been blind, my eyes are now healed and completely normal. I was going to have to do kymotherapy for at least a couple years, now the doctor said within one year I will be completely healed. Thank you elders, I know that the priesthood did this" Miracles happen my dear family, the priesthood is real!

well I love you all, take care this week :)
